Know more About The Ijebu Nation

The Ijebu Kingdom is a prominent, ancient Yoruba sub-group in southwestern Nigeria, formed around the 15th century and historically ruled by the Awujale of Ijebu-Ode.
Known as powerful pre-colonial traders, the Ijebu built a highly organized society and a massive 10th-century earthwork.
Oral tradition traces Ijebu origins to a migration from the East, specifically Sudan (Waddai) or even Ancient Egypt, settling in their current location 1,000–2,000 years ago.
Many traditions state that the founders, including the first Awujale, Olu-Iwa, and later Obanta (Ogborogan), migrated from Ile-Ife to establish the kingdom.
